That, and there's no question they last longer, NGK will tell you that themselves.

Every time I've switched a bike to iridium plugs, they seem to idle better, have a smoother part throttle, and pull smooth at full throttle to redline. In my opinion, NGK should have these listed as a cross reference iridium alternative to our oem plugs. The plugs came today and here are the comparison photos: I ordered a set of these plugs which are Laser Iridiums, part number LMAR9AI-8 similar to our oem part number which again is LMAR9D-J. 8mm unlike our oem plugs which are dual electrode and don't need to be gapped. Identical thread, reach, heat range, tip, only one difference, they are single electrode plugs gapped to. I eventually came across a plug that seemed to cross reference. I use the beginning of the part number of the oem plugs to start searching. I was looking at the Laser and IX iridiums. I searched through NGK iridium plugs last week using specs to try to find something as close as possible. If I didn't find, at least I had an extra set of oem plugs. So I had a set of oem plugs and all the specs on them, and a set to compare any plugs I come across to. NGK actually thinks our bikes use threaded tips I believe. That's the story behind why I was going through so much trouble to see if there is an NGK iridium plug that cross references with our oem plugs, even though NGK says there isn't. NGK has our oem plugs life span at one bar out of 5 bars, and it has laser iridiums at 4 bars out of 5 I believe. So no matter what anyone says, I will ever believe they are a waste of money. He has tuned thousands of motors and recommends NGK iridiums. The man is a genius, so I trust his word. The man swears by NGK iridium plugs, especially for high boosted or nitrous motors. He has set a whole fist full of world records as well. Cars, boats, bikes, wave runners, land speed cars, drag cars, hill climbing trucks, drag bikes, AMA bikes, pretty much everything. He went on his own in his early 30's to open his own tuning firm, and he tunes exclusively MoTeC equipped motors, remotely, or on location, in pretty much any frame. He was working at Motec as a head tech by the age of 25-26 I believe. A simple google on him will show he is one of the worlds greatest MoTeC tuners in the world. My tuners name is Shane Tecklenberg, also known as just Shane T. I've seen a lot of talk on the internet how iridium plugs are a waste of money, and this and that. They also have Iridium IX's, which is their performance iridium plugs.

Junk might be harsh, but they have a horribly short life span when compared to iridium plugs, especially the laser iridiums from NGK, it's their OEM Iridium replacement line. I ordered a set of oem plugs from BMW, figured out that our bikes used automotive tipped plugs, and got all the specifications of the oem plugs, which are basically junk. Our bikes use automotive tipped plugs unlike most bikes that use threaded tips on top. So, I was trying to find an NGK iridium plug that cross referenced with the OEM BMW plugs which are the LMAR9D-J.
